Microsoft Premier Support for LyncTM Partners: Certification Training
There are two types of training course and assessment options available for employees of partners who are seeking to become certified. These are described below:
Support EngineerTraining: this is a knowledge based training course designed to prepare a candidate to provide technical support.
- Support Engineer Assessment: a knowledge based assessment, hosted online and available to all candidates who have completed Support Engineer training or to candidates who meet pre-requisites that allow them to sit the assessment without requiring Support Engineer training attendance.
- Depth Support Engineer Training: a troubleshooting based course developed to prepare a candidate to provide depth and troubleshooting support. The course includes advanced tools knowledge, issue logging and scenario based troubleshooting.
- Depth Support Engineer Assessment: a practical, troubleshooting based assessment. The Depth Support Engineer assessment is currently only available in the classroom. It is available to candidates that have completed the Depth Support Engineer training course.
Current Training course Schedule
Training sessions for Support Engineer and Depth Support Engineer courses have been scheduled in Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. The schedules for each session are in the tables below. Please contact your Specialist Business Development Manager (SBDM) for details.
Support Engineer training is $995 and Depth Support Engineer is $1450 per candidate.

How to become trained
There are different paths available to candidates seeking to provide technical or depth support.
Support Engineer
- Take the Support Engineer assessment without participating in the course
- Alternatively a candidate can enroll in a training session and then sit the Support Engineer assessment.
- A link to the online Support Engineer assessment will be automatically sent once a candidate meets the pre-requisites (if taking the ‘Test out’ option) or has completed the Support Engineer training, and the Support Engineer assessment payment has been received.
Depth Support Engineer
- Enroll in a training session and then sit the Depth Support Engineer assessment
- Bypass the training and assessment, subject to the eligibility criteria
Bypass Training and Assessment
- A candidate can bypass training and assessment for the support engineering roles if they possess the pre-requisite qualifications. Please see the Training Eligibility Criteria section for further details.

Assessment Retake Policy
There are different retake policies depending on the assessment option the candidate is undertaking
Support Engineer Assessment Test out
If a candidate fails the Support Engineer test out option, then they must attend a training course before being allowed to attempt the assessment again.
Support Engineer Training followed by Assessment
After completing the Support Engineer training course, a candidate may have up to two attempts at passing the Support Engineer assessment before being obliged to attend the Support Engineer training again. One week must have elapsed before a candidate will be allowed a second Support Engineer assessment attempt. A candidate has up to 6 months to make a second attempt at Support Engineer assessment.
Depth Support Engineer Training followed by Assessment
After completing the Depth Support Engineer training course, a candidate may have up to two attempts at passing the Depth Support Engineer assessment before being obliged to attend the Depth Support Engineer training again. One week must have elapsed before a candidate will be allowed a second Depth Support Engineer assessment attempt. A candidate has up to 6 months to make a second attempt at Depth Support Engineer assessment. Please note that Depth Support Engineer assessment retakes are subject to Depth Support Engineer training course availability.
